Oak Point in Trenton, Maine is an undiscovered jewel in oceanfront real estate. Well, not totally undiscovered, but certainly a little below the radar. While the town of Trenton serves millions of visitors a year as the gateway to next-door Mount Desert Island, home of world-famous Acadia National Park, Oak Point -- and Bayside -- are well off the beaten track.
Oceanfront properties on Oak Point and Bayside offer beautiful deep-water properties and superb views and vistas. Properties on the south side of the Point have dramatic and panoramic views of the mountains and shores of Mount Desert Island. Properties on the west side of the Point look out toward beautiful Newbury Neck in Surry, as well as Long Island, Bartlett's Island and many others. The sunset views of Blue Hill (the mountain) are spectacular all year long.
And it's not just oceanfront properties which offer such good value. Trenton has long been a favorite town to live in, with many benefits and advantages. Oak Point and Bayside are midway between the Hancock County seat in Ellsworth and the dynamic visitor destination of Bar Harbor and the other towns on Mount Desert Island. Ellsworth the largest city in Downeast Maine, with plenty of shopping and cultural opportunities.
Because of the unique secret that is Oak Point -- and because I live here -- I've assembled a few suggestions about some of the available real estate for sale in the area. This isn't all the property available in the neighborhood, but it's a rather subjective collection of some of my favorite offerings currently on the market.
